Princeton fans left the game satisfied on Friday night as the Tigers got their first win of the season, taking a 27-16 victory over non-conference rival Putnam County.
Junior Brant Faulkner was responsible for two of the touchdowns scored by the Tigers, who jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Faulkner finished the night with 91 yards on 22 carries, including the two touchdown runs. The third rushing touchdown was scored by senior running back Floyd Holsted, who finished the night with 191 yards on 27 carries. Ryan Bell got the Tigers’ other touchdown on an interception run-back of 84 yards.
As a team, the Tigers rushed for 285 yards on 53 attempts. Faulkner and Cash Hartley combined for five completions on 19 attempts for 115 yards and two interceptions.
There were no statistics available for Putnam County, now 0-2 on the season.
Defensively, Tyler Phillips led the Tigers with 12 tackles. Holsted and Bell each had 11 tackles.
Princeton, 1-1, will travel to South Harrison on Friday night for a Grand River Conference matchup.
