THS Homecoming Activities Announced

Sep 5, 2013 | Headline News

The week of activities commemorating Trenton High School Homecoming will be held Sept. 16-20. Students, faculty and personnel at all schools are encouraged to show their spirit by participating in the Spirit Week activities.
The THS Student Council feels that school spirit began as early as Rissler Elementary School for them, so they are encouraging all of the students and faculty at all of the schools to actively participate in carrying on in the spirit of homecoming.
Many area businesses have agreed to allow the student council to paint their windows to show support for the Trenton Bulldogs. A big thank you goes out to each of them for supporting our school.
Spirit Week will be proceeded by the first Kaleidoscope Run on Saturday, Sept. 14 at Eastside Park. Registration is at 8 a.m. with the walk/race at 8:45 a.m. The Kaleidoscope Run is sponsored by the THS Student Council, FBLA, FCCLA, FTA, and Spanish Club. All proceeds benefit Backpack Buddies.
Among activities planned during the school week – Monday will be Super Hero Day; Tuesday will be Neon Day; Wednesday is Generation Day, with the freshmen and sophomores dressing as little kids and juniors and seniors dressing as old people; Thursday is Hawaiian Day; and Friday is Black and Gold Day.
As part of the homecoming activities, the student council and mascots will be serving ice cream sundaes on Tuesday for all students who are dressed to show school spirit. During each lunch shift, prizes will be given to the student with the most spirit. Homeroom classes will also be allowed to decorate their doors. A pizza party will be awarded to the homeroom that wins.
The traditional pep rally will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at C.F. Russell Stadium. R-9 Board President Kevin Bailey will be the speaker. R-9 Financial Secretary Mary Ritko will be honord as “an unsung hero” for her 41 years of service to the R-9 School District.
All of the fall sports teams will be introduced, the coronation will be held, followed by the bonfire.

Junior attendants are Sheridan Jamvold and Dalton Ellis. Sophomore attendants are Alexis Tolson and Gavin Albrecht. Freshmen attendants are Mason Hooyman and Spencer Harris.
