Submitted Photo
Kelly Harman, daughter of Elvin and Peggy Noel of Gallatin, recently earned her 6th degree black belt with the American Tae-Kwon-Do Association. Harman earned the promotion in rank during testing in mid-July after a mandatory five-year training window as a 5th degree black belt. She now begins a year-long training phase to complete qualifications toward earning a “Master Instructor” title that would be awarded at the ATA’s World Championships in Little Rock, AR next July. Harman is a multiple world champion title holder on the ATA/STF/WTTU competition circuit and is a nationally certified instructor and also holds the position of ATA assistant national tournament director. She has been training, teaching and competing for 18 years and, together with her husband, owns and operates Harman’s ATA Martial Arts in Springfield.
