Doyle J. Hays a 68-year-old resident of Chula, died at his home on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, under the care of his family and Saint Luke’s Hospice.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 at Plainview Cemetery in Chula.
A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home in Chillicothe, where general visitation is scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013.
Mr. Hayes was born on Nov. 11, 1944 in Pollock, the son of Truman Jefferson Hays and Velma Beula Irene Hines.
He was a life-long farmer in the area who enjoyed fishing, video games, riding four wheelers and driving stock cars at a local raceway as well as spending time with his family and friends.
He was married in Chillicothe on Nov. 20, 1966 to Kay Hatfield.
He is survived by three daughters, Claretta Lamp of Chillicothe, Penny Kromeich of Macon and Kim Tuttle and her fiance, Johnny Ragle of Hamilton; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a companion, Mary Curry of the home; four brothers, Dennis Hays, Dalton Hays, David Hays and Danny Hays and his wife Debbie; five sisters, Karen, Davis, Helen Whitmore, Theressa (Gale) Clevenger, Pam (Marshall) Wilhelm and Donna Bean; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons-in-law, Jimmy Kromeich and Jesse Lamp; and a nephew, Adam Hays.
Memorials are suggested to St. Luke’s Hospice or Plainview Cemetery and left at the funeral home or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington Chillicothe MO 64601.
