Shirley Ann Holeman, a 77-year-old resident of Trenton and former King City resident, died on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at her home in Trenton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today (Monday, Aug. 12, 2013) at the Roberson Funeral Home in King City. Burial was in the King City Cemetery.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Trenton at a later date.
Mrs. Holeman was born on March 22, 1936 in near Whitesville, the daughter of Murrel and Margaret Helen Slawson McClain. She lived with her grandparents, Wesley and Bell Bostwick Slawson in her youth, attending the Hickory Creek and Waldo schools, and later with her mother to attend the Union Star and King City schools.
She was married in King City on Oct. 26, 1952, to Darrell Loren Holeman, who preceded her in death on May 28, 2010. They made their home in the Prairie Flower District, where they farmed for over 50 years before moving to Trenton. She was a homemaker and worked in the healthcare field.
She was a member of the Dorcas Richardson Chapter of NSDAR in Trenton. She was also a member of the Grand River Garden Club, FCE, Pleasant Center Club and council. She was a charter member of the Heart of America Colony Mayflower Society of Kansas City. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Anne’s Altar Society of Trenton.
Survivors include two sons, Hilbert (Sue) Holeman of Trenton and D. Michael (Luann) Holeman of West Des Moines, IA; five grandchildren, Heidi (Kevin) Tow, Hannah (Eric) Vetsch, Hunter Holeman, all of Iowa, Hilary Holeman of Jefferson City, and Molly (Austin) Buenemann of Trenton; two great-grandsons, Oliver Tow and Sullivan Tow of Iowa; a brother, Roger Collier and sister, Patty Reutter, both of Colorado.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; a son, Brian Keith Holeman in 1975; and her step-father, Dorsey Collier
