Norma Belle McClanahan Foster, an 82-year-old lifelong resident of Newtown, died on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013 at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center in Centerville, IA.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013 at the Newtown Christian Church. Interment will be at the Busby Cemetery.
A scheduled visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 o’clock tonight (Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013) at the Newtown Christian Church.
Mrs. Foster was born Nov. 2, 1930 at Newtown, the daughter of Edgar and Mary (Barnes) McClanahan. She graduated from Newtown High School in 1948 and worked for a short time at the Harris Bank.
She was married Vern Foster on July 9, 1950. He preceded her in death.
The couple managed the family farm outside of Newtown. They were blessed with three children, Everett, Gary and Vickie. Norma was a member of the Newtown Baptist Church, where she served as church treasurer for many years. She was the Clay Township treasurer as well as president of the PTA.
She is survived by two sons, Everett Foster of Newtown and Gary (Marilyn) Foster of Centerville, IA; and one daughter, Vickie Bell of DeSoto, IA; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene McClanahan, and one sister, Roberta Brown.
