John Junior Jones, an 85-year-old resident of Liberty, died on Friday, July 19, 2013, at his home.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the Park Lawn Northland Chapel in Liberty. Visitation will take place one hour before the service at 1 p.m.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Stucker Cemetery near Laredo.
Mr. Jones was born on Oct. 17, 1927, in Chula, the son of John Henry and Marie Frances Frazier Jones. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 until 1947. He worked as a computer account representative for Montgomery-Ward for 29 years. He was a member of Hillside Christian Church and most recently attended Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Barr Jones; four children, Doral (Cathy) Jones, James Barr, John (Cissy) Barr and Lisa (Dwight) Vanderpool; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; three sisters-in-law, Pauline Jones, Maggie Jones and Ione Altenderfer; a brother-in-law, Dave Cramer; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Paula Altenderfer Jones, three sisters and three brothers.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Providence Baptist Church, 12206 N. Stark, Kansas City, MO 64167.
