The final ‘First Friday’ of the summer at the Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge is set for Aug. 2, beginning at 5 p.m. In addition to the usual activities associated with ‘First Fridays,’ the Friends of Swan Lake will be hosting a fish fry with catfish and potatoes.
The Friends of Swan Lake will also be hosting activities throughout the night such as a silent auction and a handmade quilt raffle. All proceeds raised from the events will go to the Friends of Swan Lake, who in turn assist the refuge with various projects.
The main event at the outdoor amphitheater will begin at 7 p.m. and features a bald eagle presentation by the Dickerson Park Zoo. Live Bald and Golden eagles will be a part of the presentation.
Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge is located one mile south of Sumner. For more information, persons may contact Steve Whitson at 660-856-3323, ext. 13.
