Ila Tharp, a 92-year-old Trenton resident, died at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton. Rev. Brad Walker and Richard Smith officiated.
Jackie Altenderfer was the pianist and Sherry Walker was the vocalist. Music included “One Day at a Time” and “Shall We Gather at the River.”
Pallbearers were Bobby McCully, Donnie McCully, Jim Walker, Jeff McCully, Daniel McCully and Jason Graves.
Burial was in the South Evans Cemetery, northeast of Trenton.
Mrs. Tharp was born on Feb. 27, 1921 in Chula, the daughter of Theodore and Jessie Burns McCully. She was married on Sept. 20, 1941 in Trenton to Paul Russell Tharp, who preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 1986 They farmed just east of Spickard. After her husband’s death she moved to Trenton.
She was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include her brother, Myrl McCully of Mt. Horeb, WI; two sisters, Betty Johnson of Tule Lake, CA and Jolene Walker of Bethany; and many nieces and nephews.
Those preceding her in death include her parents; her husband; four brothers, Donald McCully, Harold McCully, Wayne McCully and Ted McCully; and one sister, Minerva Cummings.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Fairview United Methodist Church and may be left with the funeral home.
