Two Newtown residents were hurt in a one-vehicle accident on Thursday afternoon east of Harris.
The driver, David Duke, 20, was flown by LifeFlight to Iowa Methodist Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. The passenger, Tarcy A. Burton, 22, was taken to the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital at Milan for treatment of moderate injuries.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Duke was operating a truck eastbound on Route E, five miles east of Harris, when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and overturned. The truck was extensively damaged. Neither driver was wearing a safety device.
