Members of the Grundy County Local Emergency Planning Committee met on May 14 at the Grundy County Health Department.

Glen Briggs presided at the meeting, during which time fundraising activities were discussed, including a pedal tractor raffle at the Gooseberry Festival. Tickets will also be sold during the North Central Missouri Fair and the Missouri Day Festival. The drawing will be held on the last day of the festival.
The group discussed the recent snowstorm, including methods of mass notification, communication systems and sheltering. Upcoming events in the region include the Region H tabletop exercise on Aug. 27 in St. Joseph, a joint Hazmat tabletop exercise for Livingston and Grundy counties in September and the Region H and Region B exercise on Oct. 17, hosted by Grundy County. this will be a full-scale Hazmat event along with other aspects to test capabilities.
The next meeting will be at 5 p.m. on July 16. The LEPC trailer will be there so that contents can be reviewed and inventoried.
