Allan Eugene Coon, a 49-year-old resident of Shawnee, KS and former Princeton resident, died on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at his home after a battle with cancer.

A committal service was held at 10 a.m. today (Tuesday, May 28, 2013) at the Prince of Peace Mausoleum in Lenexa, KS.
Mr. Coon was born on Oct. 1, 1963, in Princeton, the son of Winton Eugene Coon and Twyla Jane Wright Coon. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1981. He attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, obtaining a bachelor of arts degree in accounting in 1985 and a bachelor of science in education degree with a minor in coaching athletics in 1987, graduating cum laude. He began his study of law in 1989 at UMKC in Kansas City, ranking first in his UMKC law school class in 1992 and receiving numerous American Jurisprudence awards for his classroom work, together with academic honors. He began his legal career in 1992, accepting a position as an associate at Morrison & Hecker in Kansas City. He worked with Watson & Marshall law firm in 1994, where he remained until accepting his present position at Hubbard, Ruzicka, Kreamer & Kincaid in 1996. He became a member of the firm in 1999.
Mr. Coon was a member of the Kansas and Missouri Bar Associations, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and the Johnson County Bar Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family, having fun playing with grandchildren and watching them grow. He enjoyed music, especially rock music of all genres, classic American and foreign films, hiking, biking, basketball, baseball and basketball fantasy leagues, playing trivia, and Texas hold ’em poker.
Mr. Coon is survived by his wife, Deborah Coon; his parents, Gene and Twyla Coon, of Princeton; a son, Christopher Wesley; grandchildren, James, Kaylee and Sophi Black; four aunts, Eva Moore of Princeton, Lelia (Max) Shaffer of Princeton, Gail Palestine of Boyds, MD and Elaine Ganon of Johnston, IA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Eula Fuller of Ottawa, KS; grandmother-in-law, Carleen Bach, of Overbrook, KS; sister-in-law, Christine Fuller, of Sparta, MI; two brothers-in-law, Steve Fuller of Chicago and Sean (Amanda) Fuller; and several nieces, cousins, friends and colleagues.
