David W. Peterie, a 75-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Monday, May 20, 2013 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Edgewood Cemetery at Chillicothe. A family visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe, where a general visitation is scheduled from noon to 9 p.m. on Thursday.
Mr. Peterie was born on Sept. 17, 1937 in Laredo, the son of Iliff M. “Ted” and Eula Reeder Peterie. He graduated in 1956 from Chillicothe High School. He was married on Feb. 14, 1970 to Evonne Youngbear Staton, who preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2001. He was married on Sept. 15, 2007 to Janice Pollock Hamilton, who survives of the home.
Mr. Peterie served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked as a veterans service officer for the Missouri Veterans Commission for 29 years. He was a member of the Chillicothe Highview Baptist Church and attended the Edinburg Baptist Church. He was a member of the Show Me Rabbits and Rich Hill Rabbit clubs from 1970 to 2010. He enjoyed judging rabbits at rabbit shows and also enjoyed antique clocks and woodworking.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Jeff Staton and his wife, Shelley of Chillicothe, Jason Peterie of Gretna, NE, Scott Peterie of Kansas City, David Peterie of West Virginia and Darren Peterie of Sonoma, CA; three step-sons, David Hamilton Jr. and his wife, Marilia of Belgium, Michael Hamilton and his wife, Fran of Woodland Park, CO and Jonathan Hamilton of Rapid City, SD; one step-daughter, Gina Loechler and her husband, Brent of King George, VA; three grandchildren, David Trace Staton, Emerson Staton and Dalton Peterie; 11 step-grandchildren; 21 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Overstreet and her husband, Floyd and Joyce Green and her husband, David, all of Chillicothe; and a sister-in-law, Joan Peterie of Trenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; two brothers, Allen Peterie and Lawrence Dean; and one sister, Shirley Gear.
