Students at Rissler Elementary School will observe Book Week Nov. 5-9.
Rissler Students To Observe Book Week, Hold Fair and Chili Supper
Students will observe “D.E.A.R.” time each day, when they drop everything and read. Each day that a class is “caught” reading, their name will be entered into a drawing for a $10 book fair certificate. A certificate will be given away to one classroom in each grade level. Students will be dressing up each day, with the following themes: Monday, Nov. 5, D.E.A.R. Season Opening Day (wear camouflage or hunter orange clothing); Tuesday, Nov. 6, wear red, white and blue in honor of our patriotic heritage and the privilege of voting; Wednesday, Nov. 7, Saddle Up and Read Bookeroo! (dress like a cowboy or cowgirl); Thursday, Nov. 8, PJ Day when students can wear their pajamas to school. The day is sponsored by Dr. Seuss’ “Sleep Book” and “Ira Sleeps Over”; and Friday, Nov. 9, “Where the Wild Things Are Day,” with all students having their name in a drawing for a “Where the Wild Things Are” prize.
The Rissler PTO will host a book fair in the library all week, with the fair open from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday. The annual Rissler Chili Supper will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
