Robert E. Ferguson, an 86-year-old resident of Galesburg, IL, died at 7:13 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Knoxville, IL. Rev. David Shreeves officiated. Burial was in Maquon, IL, Cemetery.
Mr. Ferguson was born on April 27, 1926 in Trenton, the son of Robert Thomas and Fern McWaid Ferguson. He was raised and educated in Trenton. He was married on Dec. 10, 1948 in Knoxville to Mary Jane Smith, who preceded him in death on June 20, 2003.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946. He worked for Butler Manufacturing and then the former Admirals in Galesburg. He had a television repair shop and grocery store in Maquon for many years. He lived in Maquon with his wife and for a short time while her parents lived with them until their death. He then moved to rural Knoxville. He was Baptist by faith.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Ferguson of Macomb, IL; several nieces and nephews; his caregiver and special friend, Helen Guerrerro of Galesburg; two brothers, Elgin Ferguson of Wataga, IL and Ralph (Wilberta) Ferguson of Independence; a sister, Leona (Karl) Kinnamon of Bloomfield, IA; and a brother-in-law, J.E. Wolf of Kansas City.
He was preceded by his wife, his parents, one son and two sisters.
