The parade gets under way at 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Crowder Road and Main Street. The parade will follow a route to the intersection of Ninth and Main streets, turning east and traveling down Ninth Street to Kerfoot, then turning north and heading back to Eastside Park. Nearly 200 spots have been reserved for entries in the parade, which will also include 27 bands in competition as part of the Missouri Day Band Festival. The bands will be exiting the parade at Normal Street to continue to the high school for additional band festival competition.
The Trenton Rotary Club is sponsoring the parade with cash awards being given out in more than a dozen categories. Judging of the entries will take place on Ninth Street at the intersection with Rural Street and winners will be announced following the conclusion of the parade.
A banner honoring this year’s theme, “The Sounds of Freedom – A Salute to the Military,” will be carried at the front of the parade by children and grandchildren of military veterans, with Marine veteran Jeff Eads coordinating the group. The 548th Transportation Unit of the Missouri National Guard, which is located in Trenton, is serving as the grand marshal of this year’s parade.
