Spickard Board Meets
Administrator Mike Garrett discussed the Missouri School Improvement Program process and what it would involve. Teachers and Garrett will be receiving professional development from the northwest RPDC on instruction in communication arts and math, with the district to receive $6,296 to help with expenses incurred by the plan.
Garrett also reported attendance is at 96 percent and that Red Ribbon Week would be held Oct. 22-26, with dress-up days to be announced. Board members Jesse Richmond, Bob Darby and Roger Bonnett gave reports on the fall MSBA conference they attended.
During the safety report, it was noted that teachers incorporated fire safety into a lesson for each classroom during Fire Safety Week. The Spickard Fire Department will be giving a lesson and bringing a fire truck for students to view on Oct. 26.
An executive session was held on student matters and personnel with no announcement made. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 19.
