JV Football
While the THS JV failed to score in their contest, the Bulldogs had several nice offensive drives as well as a couple of defensive stands that held back the Cardinals from the goal line.
The Bulldogs were able to move the ball in the first quarter from their own 29 to the Lawson 20 before being stopped by the Cardinals, who recovered the ball after it was stripped from the hands of the THS runner. It was the 1:57 mark in the second quarter before Lawson got on the board with a 10-yard pass from Lane McDowell to Mike Krocza. Landon Priest kicked the point-after and gave Lawson a 7-0 lead at the half.
The Bulldogs were able to move the ball in the half several times, but could not sustain a drive. Lawson got its second touchdown of the night with a 26-yard run by Josh Stuphin at the 6:29 mark in the third quarter. Both teams fumbled the ball to their opponents in the fourth quarter, with Lawson finally cashing in for its third score of the night on a 64-yard run by Preston Smidt. Priest hit the PAT to give Lawson the 20-0 victory.
The Trenton JV finish the season with a mark of 4-2.
THS Freshman
The Trenton freshman squad finished the season undefeated as the Bulldogs picked up a road win.
Both Trenton and Lawson scored in the first quarter, with the Bulldogs getting their touchdown on a 21-yard run by Colton Neff. The point-after was no good. Lawson took the lead on a touchdown run and two-point conversion.
Trenton jumped back in front in the second quarter when Kail McCarter scored on a 45-yard run. Neff ran in the two-point conversion to give the Bulldogs a 14-8 lead in the half. Trenton tacked on seven more points in the third quarter when Travis Leeper scored on an 18-yard run. Jonathan Lamp’s kick was good, putting Trenton up 21-8.
Lathrop tightened the score in the fourth quarter, picking up eight points on a touchdown run and two-point conversion. A 32-yard touchdown run by Leeper put the game away for the Bulldogs. The kick was no good.
The freshman team finished the year at 4-0-1.
