Trenton wasted little time getting on the board in the first inning. Maddie Hooyman led of with a single and stole second before coming across the plate on a double by Scotlin Hurley, who advanced to third on an error. Trenton would go on to lead 3-0 after the first inning and then plated six more runs in the third inning, taking advantage of five more South Harrison errors. When it was all said and done, Trenton had scored 11 runs on 14 hits.
Maddie Hooyman was 4-for-4 on the night with 2 RBIs, a run scored and two steals.
Scotlin Hurley was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, Makaila Capeder was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, Cassidy Cotton was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI and McKinley Hurley was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Madi Trump and Avery Whitaker picked up the other two Lady Bulldog hits.
Scotlin Hurley dominated in the circle, picking up the win. Hurley allowed only three baserunners and one walk, throwing her second no-hitter of the season while striking out eight batters. There were two THS errors.
“Any time a team wins 20 games in a season it is a big accomplishment,” Lady Bulldogs’ Head Coach John Cowling said. “To win at least 20 in two straight seasons shows what a great group of players we have and how consistent our program has become.”
Trenton, now 20-3 on the season, returns to action on Monday night, traveling to Chillicothe to face the Lady Hornets in the regular season finale.
