College-bound high school juniors will have the opportunity to take the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT/NMSQT) on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Trenton High School.
Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Testing Set
The PSAT/NMSQT serves as a screening test for students who wish to participate in the National Merit Scholarship Corporation programs. The PSAT measures critical thinking skills that are important for success in college, including critical reading, math, problem solving and writing skills. Juniors who rank in the top 10 of the Class of 2014, plus any parents who work for Modine, UPS, ConAgra or FedEx are strongly encouraged to take this test.
Cost for taking the test is $14, payable when students register. Juniors will receive a student guide and practice test at that time. Parents should talk to their employers if they are unsure if their student needs to take this test for scholarship opportunities. This test must be given on the National Test Date during the student’s junior year in order to be considered for the National Merit Scholarship program.
Persons with question should contact THS counselor Carrie Crouse for more information.
