Virginia M. Griffin, a 92-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Tuesday night, Sep. 18, 2012 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at Slater Funeral Home in Trenton with Pastor Edward Bell officiating. Burial will be at Edinburg IOOF Cemetery.
There is no schedule family visitation.
Mrs. Griffin was born on April 23, 1920 in Hickory, the daughter of Joseph Elmer and Mabel Frances French Parkey. She attended Gee School at Hickory. She was employed as manager of Kress Store and retired from JCPenney, both at Trenton.
She was a member of the Edinburg Baptist Church, Joseph L. Norton VFW Post No. 919 Auxiliary and was a long-time member the Rebekah Lodge.
She was married to Cecil Terhune, who preceded her in death. She was then married at Edinburg on June 6, 1948 sto Clyde W. Griffin, who preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1996.
She is survived by one sister, Rosa Lee Allnutt of Trenton; three nephews, Terry Allnutt and his wife, Sue of Colorado Springs, CO, Tim Allnutt and his wife, Lee Ann of Trenton and Leslie Bratton of Independence; one niece, Jeri Davis of Roseville, CA; great-nieces and nephews, Samantha Jo Plaisance, Mathew Allnutt, Caitlin Allnutt, Ryan Allnutt and Randy Johnson; and one sister-in-law, Jane Parkey of Mesa, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; seven sisters, Ela Fern McAllister, Irene Hunt, Hazel Bratton, Leona Dockery, Betty Lou Porter, Beulah Fay Wynne and Mary Caroline Parkey; one brother, Elmer Parkey; and one niece, Nancy Carol Davis.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Saint Luke’s Hospice. These may be left at the funeral home.
