Funeral services for Kenneth R. Sheppard are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 at Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home. This is a change in the location previously announced.

Mr. Sheppard, a 72-year-old Trenton resident, died at 5:35 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, where he has lived since 1978.
Mr. Sheppard was born September 23, 1939 in Trenton, the son of Alexander E. and Elizabeth F. Archer Sheppard. He lived his entire life in Trenton, attending school until he suffered an injury as a young teen. In his early years he helped his father plaster walls as well as working at a gas station and helping with a hot dog stand at fairs. In 1978 he was one of the original tenants of Sunnyview Nursing Home. From 1988 until earlier this year he worked with the Grundy County Learning Center where he made many lasting friendships. He enjoyed assembly work and shredding paper with a commercial shredder, but mostly he enjoyed his pay checks twice a month. His favorite question was always “when is payday?” He was always willing to help if needed.
He is survived by a sister Violet Sheppard of Chillicothe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Miller.
