The dual started with doubles play where Jessica and Jaci Tracy combined for a 9-8 win. The Tracys needed a 7-2 tiebreaker victory to seal the win. Maria Stevenson and Megan Derry fell 8-3 as Savannah evened the score, but Megan Sole and Magie Steinhoff put Trenton back in front with an 8-4 win.
Jaci Tracy got the singles matches started off on the right foot, picking up an 8-2 win at number one. Jessica Tracy followed with an 8-3 win at number two and Stevenson defeated her opponent at number three, 8-5.
Savannah got their only singles win of the dual at number four where Derry fell 8-4. Trenton bounced back, however, as Sole won 8-4 at number five and Steinhoff won 8-6 at number six.
“We had another tough match in the heat,” Lady Bulldogs’ Coach Abby Gott said. “The girls came through with a great victory against a very consistent team. Savannah had us play doubles before singles. We won two of our doubles matches and knew we needed three singles wins to secure the match. The girls stepped up to the challenge, winning five of the six singles matches.”
With the win, the THS netters moved to 3-0 on the season. Trenton returns to action on Tuesday, traveling to St. Joseph for a dual with LeBlond.
The junior varsity was in action as well, drawing a 3-3 tie. Alexis Fender and Alvynne Villacampa, Megan Ellis and Jessica Harrison and Ashley Allen and Michelle Stewart picked up JV doubles wins.
