Spickard Board Sets Levy

The Spickard Board of Education set its tax rate during a meeting on Monday night at the school.

According to information provided by Superintendent Mike Garrett, the district tax rate will be $4.7367 on the $100 assessed valuation. This is projected to provide an income of $176,027 in local taxes.
Garrett reported that building projects have been completed and that district is ready for the start of classes, which occur on Wednesday. Clearing of property adjacent to the ballfield was completed, worked and seeded. Painting, cleaning, waxing and ceiling tile projects have also been completed.
The annual audit has been completed and will be presented to the board in October. Local school agreements were discussed with no charges. The board voted to increase the pay for substitutes from $62.50 per day to $70 per day.
An executive session for personnel and student matters was held with no announcement made. The next meeting will be on Monday, Sept. 17 at the school.
