The 2012 Calamity Jane Day celebration will be reviving an event that took place many years ago.

Following this year’s parade, all bands in the parade will gather to hold a short concert. The parade is at 1 p.m., with the concert following at the grandstand area.
The concert will be followed by a Calamity Jane shootout performance and the past queen recognition, which will take place at 3 p.m. Steve Maxey will emcee the event and Janet Searcy will provide the music.
The recognition ceremony will be followed by the Singing Bee, which is open to the public. First-, second- and third-place money will be ward. Persons can enter as a solo or as part of a group.
Gingerbread Kids Daycare is sponsoring a scrapbooking contest. Entries will be taken from 8:30 to 9 a.m., with judging at 11:30 a.m. in the basement of the Hal England building.Awards will be announced after the parade.
There will be a Dodge Academic Booster Club fundraiser at the elementary school from 3 to 6 p.m. There is no obligation but each test drive nets $20 for the school
A talent show is set for 6 p.m. for performances of live music, singing and/or playing an instrument. Monetary awards will be presented to the top three and the event is open to all ages.
Marilyn’s Wide Country, a country dance band out of Osceola IA, will provide the music on Saturday night.
Information will be announced concerning the Kids Pedal Pull on Saturday morning. Other events include a pie contest, the shoot-out, the melodrama, the Rotary breakfast, the drumline competition, the Mic-O-Say Dancers, the baby show, the children’s parade and the craft show and vendor.
