On March 30 of this year, the foundation kicked off the campaign with the employees of Wright Memorial proposing a goal of 100 percent participation hospital wide. To date, 92percent of Wright Memorial Hospital employees have contributed to the walking trail/memorial garden campaign, solidifying that this project has significant support internally.
Foundation Development Officer Matt Osterthun is confident that the Foundation will attain its goal.
“We’ve had an impressive four months of promoting this project with the employees and I’m extremely confident that we will attain our goal, but now it’s time for the community to buy into this project and know that this trail is for them as well,” Osterthun said. “The WMH employees have shown their support and the Foundation is extremely appreciative of their efforts, but in order to bring this trail and memorial garden to Wright Memorial, we need community support to do so.”
The construction of the trail will be phase one of the project and estimated to cost approximately $100,000 with an ideal ground breaking time of Spring 2013. The next phase will be the memorial garden, then a landscaped retaining wall and, finally, aesthetics to complete the project.
The trail will serve as a heath care awareness initiative for the patients, visitors, and employees of the hospital as well as serve the community. Many departments throughout the hospital will be able to utilize the walking trail by administering treatments to their patients.
The memorial garden will give persons the opportunity to remember a loved one they have lost. The entire project is a way to honor a loved one or former employees of the hospital through a variety of naming opportunities.
Persons willing to contribute their 100 percent tax-deductible donation to the walking trail campaign may send checks payable to the Wright Memorial Hospital Foundation, 191 Iowa Blvd, Trenton, MO 64683. Pledges may also be made at a maximum of five years.
