Peggy was born in Trenton on Sept. 19, 1943. She attended high school and junior college in Trenton and went on to join Delta Gamma sorority at the University of Missouri. She graduated from Mizzou in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in education.
During her career, she taught a variety of subjects in both primary and secondary schools between 1965-1993. While she was teaching, she obtained her master’s degree in educational leadership from Nova University in 1987. Peggy worked as an educator in several states, including Missouri and Arizona; however, Texas was the place where she spent most of her life. While there, she taught in Galveston, Houston (Spring Branch ISD) and Katy. Before her retirement in 2003, Peggy advanced into the role of school administrator, working as an assistant principal in Katy and Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and as the principal of Hunter’s Creek Elementary School in Houston.
It was clear to everyone she met that Peggy was a warm and wonderful person, but it was in a school environment where she truly thrived. No matter what role she served in her working environment, her first priority was her ‘kids’ at school and it was helping them to grow and meet their potential that gave her the greatest joy in life.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Robert K. Brinkman, and their three children, Christina, Steven and Lezlee. She also leaves behind one grandson, Jacob.
Her memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Westminster United Methodist Church, 5801 San Felipe Street, Houston, TX 77057.
