Even with the sweltering temperature, the hog show at the North Central Missouri Fair on Wednesday had an increased number of entries over last year.
Hogs, Goats Are Featured At Wednesday’s NCM Fair
There were 112 head entered, up from 78 last year. Showmanship honors went to Quinten Lewis of Chillicothe in the 15 years and over division, while Zachary Ayers of Green City was the winner in the 11 to 14 years category and Julia Stimpson of Chillicothe was the 8- to 10-year-old winner. The Herdsmanship Award was presented to the Huber Family of Trenton.
Abby Burns of Chilicothe exhibited the supreme champion boar, a Yorkshire, while Dolan Huber of Trenton exhibited the reserve champion, also a Yorkshire. Miss Burns also exhibited the supreme champion gilt, a Yorkshire and Quinten Lewis exhibited the reserve champion, a Spotted Poland. Calvin Grady of Gallatin exhibited the supreme champion market hog, with Rachel Nowland of Chillicothe exhibiting the reserve.
There were 14 entries in the pee wee show, which started the morning.

There were 63 goats judged in the goat show on Wednesday night.
Showmanship honors went to Rachel Zumbrunnen of Brookfield, who was the senior 15-and-over recipient, and Grant Taylor of Bethany, who received the junior 14-and-under award. The herdsmanship award went to Rebecca McLain of Galt.
Grant Taylor had the supreme champion doe while Rachel Zumbrunnen had the reserve champion. Showing the supreme champion buck was Kaycee Vandiver of McFall while Zach Taylor of Bethany had the reserve champion buck. Julie Stimpson of Chillicothe had the supreme champion wether while Crysten Lollar of Chillicothe showed the reserve champion wether.

The dairy show was held this afternoon. Tonight’s grandstand entertainment is the muttin’ bustin’ at 7 p.m., followed at 8 p.m. by bullriding.
On tap Friday is the Ladies Lead at the livestock pavillion at 9 a.m., followed by the pee wee sheep show and regular sheep show. Friday night’s grandstand event is ATV and motocross racing, which gets under way at 7 p.m.
