“The job of coroner is something that I feel comfortable with. When Tom Eads told me he had decided to not run for coroner again it just seemed natural to continue the service to the community that he has given over the last 32 years. The office requires you to go into uncomfortable situations and be professional and compassionate in equal parts as well as use sound judgment in any possible criminal deaths. These are skills that I feel I have acquired over my career working in funeral homes and beside other coroners. It would be my pleasure to use my experiences to help the Grundy County community.
“Over the past 11 years I have worked with the current Grundy County Coroner in nearly every function of the job. Prior to that I had worked with the Laclede County coroner and the mortuary I worked for was contracted with the Greene County Medical Examiner’s office to assist with every body that was sent through their office.
“ I am lucky to have met my wife, NiCole McHargue Neal, while attending the University of Missouri Columbia. We have two children aged 13 and 11 who we have raised here in Trenton with much help from NiCole’s parents, Dr. Nick and Cheri McHargue. Having been raised in Bolivar, which a similar community to Trenton and Grundy County, it nice to have settled back into a place where people hold the same values as I was raised with. My degree is in mortuary science from the Kansas City, KS, Community College.”
