The program requires that the electricity be shut off or is in threat of disconnect. Those who have qualified for energy assistance after Oct. 1, 2011, may call the agency at 660-359-3907 for help. Those living outside the Trenton area may call toll free at 855-290-8544.
Up to $300 is available to help with summer cooling bills. A new application is not needed unless the customer has moved or changed vendors. GHCAA pays the assistance directly to the electric vendor on behalf of the qualifying family. The Federal Poverty Guideline of 135 percent is used for this program.
The GHCAA Energy Services Department, managed by Terri Henderson, administers this program. Staff members who are processing applications include Kim Brashear, Jennifer Farmer and Alicia Roy. Assisting with the clients who are in need of assistance are Debbie Cribb and Cassy Wanstreet in the Grundy County Service Center.
The total that the household receives is the amount needed to restore power up to $300. Persons with questions are encouraged to call the agency in Trenton.
