Contracts, bids and permits were approved during meetings of the Princeton City Council and Spickard Board of Aldermen on Tuesday night.

Princeton
The Princeton City Council approved several service contracts, permits and licenses during its meeting.
According to assistant city clerk Danette Summers, Donna Herdrich of the Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce visited with the council about service contracts for upcoming events, with three contracts approved. They include one for the band “JFK” for the Calamity Jane Day Car Show, one for Janet Searcy for the queen contest in August and one for a variety of live entertainment for the July 4 celebration.
Fireworks permits were approved for Bill Heck and Jeff Power and Power was also given approval for a catering license to hold a beer garden June 29-30.
Liquor licenses were approved for Snappy’s, Casey’s, Jeff’s Place, Crossroads, Chiefs and Dollar General and the board approved a building permit for Princeton Custom Meats, which is constructing an addition. Council members also agreed to send a letter of complaint to a dog owner.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 5.
Spickard
The Spickard Board of Aldermen approved a bid and heard reports during its meeting on Tuesday night.
City Clerk April Meighen said the board accepted a bid from Bob and Sherea Stephens to hay property owned by the city. It was the only bid received.
She said that four city lots remain to be sold and persons wanting to bid on them can make a bid at city hall during business hours. The board will consider the bids at its July meeting.
Lance Rains of the Green Hills Regional Planning Commission presented information concerning the city sewer repairs. The city’s engineers for the project, Larkin Group, will be contacted regarding a report given to the city concerning the sewer.
Citizens are being notified that yards are being checked for any violations to city ordinances. If violations are found, a notice will be sent to the property owner.
Citizens are also being reminded not to cover or block the utility meter so they can be read.
Chris Ward was hired as part-time help at a salary of $8 per hour. Justin Porter was hired at a salary of $11 per hour to help with fire hydrant replacement.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, July 3.
