Stanley E. Diegelman, a 96-year-old Chillicothe resident, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Morningside Center in Chillicothe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at St. Columban’s Catholic Church in Chillicothe. Open visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012 and a parish rosary will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe at 6 p.m. on Friday, with a family visitation to follow.
Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens at Chillicothe.
Mr. Diegelman was born Nov. 2, 1915 in Chula, the son of Earl and Garnet (Blue) Diegelman. He lived most of his life in Chula before moving to Chillicothe in 2006. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945.
On Jan. 16, 1950, he was united in marriage to Betty Hinnen in Chillicothe. She preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2008.
Mr. Diegelman was a member of the Vern R. Glick Post No. 25 American Legion as well as a member of the St. Columban’s Catholic Church of Chillicothe. He was a Winter Texan for over 25 year. In his younger years, he was Chula Sox baseball pitcher, enjoyed mud racing, worked as a farmer and was a tireless dancer.
He is survived by one son, John Diegelman and his wife, Karen of Chillicothe; two grandchildren, Amy Diegelman of Oak Bluffs, MA and Ian Diegelman of his wife, Tara of Chillicothe; and three great-grandchildren, Sullevin, Ace and Lark Diegelman, all of Chillicothe.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Maxine and Juanita; and a brother, Lawrence.
