THS Track Teams Sweep Golden Eagle Invitational In St. Joe

The Trenton High School track and field teams picked up a sweep of the Golden Eagle Invitational at LeBlond High School in St. Joseph Tuesday. Trenton captured first place in both the boys and girls team standings, the Lady Bulldogs doing so with 116 points and the boys doing so with 108 points.

Lady Bulldogs
The Trenton girls won the meet with 116 points, 50 of which came from first-place finishes. Chandler Wilson tallied 30 points with wins in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and the triple jump. Wilson won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.3 and the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.61. Wilson won the triple jump with a leap of 33-09.25.
Mackenzie Mack, McKinley Hurley, Scotlin Hurley and Maddie Hooyman combined to win both the 4×100- and 4×200-meter relays. The four won the 4×100 with a time of 52.6 and the 4×200 with a time of 1:52.7.
Trenton’s other two relay teams fared pretty well on the day too, coming away with runner-up finishes. Scotlin Hurley, Hooyman, Wilson and Mack placed second in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:15 and the 4×800-meter relay team of Molly Boyle, Mallory Hooyman, Payton Guile and Megan Sole was second with a time of 11:07.
Maddie Hooyman grabbed an individual second-place finish in the high jump, clearing 4-10 and Kaylee Lickteig was second in the pole vault with a mark of 8-0.
Other placewinners for the Lady Bulldogs included Sole, fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 30-06; McKinley Hurley, fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:07; Mack, fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.8; Alexis Fender, fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 53.09; Ashley Osborn, sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 54.14; Shania Anderson, sixth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 14:14; Boyle, sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:49 and Scotlin Hurley, sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.2.
Bulldogs
Seth Acton and James Fairchild each won an individual event and were a part of two relay team gold medals, leading Trenton to its sixth meet title of the season.
Acton scored a gold medal in the 400-meter dash, winning with a time of 50.8 and Fairchild took first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.45. The two combined to help win the 4×400-meter relay, combining with Colby Larson and Sam Cool to win the event with a time of 3:29.85. Acton also combined with Cool, Larson and Keegan McGinness to win the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 44.18 and Fairchild combined with Michael Witten, Charlie Hoffman and Addison Fuller to win the 4×800-meter relay with a time of 8:37.80.
Trenton’s other relay team, the 4×200-meter team, placed second. McGinness, Dillon Triplet, Cool and Acton combined to finish runner-up with a time of 1:35.35. Cool also finished second to Acton in the open 400-meter dash, running the event in a time of 52.42.
Other placewinners for the Bulldogs included McGinness, third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.25; Fuller, third in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:01.8; Witten, fourth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:11.11; Hoffman, fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.25; and Wyatt Coffman, who was fifth in the shot put. No distance was reported for Coffman’s throw as of press time.
The Trenton track and field teams will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to Bethany for the South Harrison Relays.
