Leading the way for Trenton was Chase Tolson, who shot a 81 via a front-nine 41 and a back-nine 40. The score placed Tolson sixth overall at the tournament. Blake Schlarb was just one stroke behind Tolson with an 82 as a result of nine-hole scores of 40 and 42. The mark tied Schlarb for seventh and, after a card playoff, the Trenton senior placed ninth overall.
Lane Beverlin used a front-nine 45 and back nine 41 to give Trenton its third best score with an 86 and Joe Christenson rounded out the team score shooting twin 44’s for a total score of 88. Austin Norris was also in action for the Bulldogs, shooting a 90 with a front-nine 44 and back-nine 46.
“It was a good team effort,” Bulldogs’ Coach Travis Mullenix said. “Blake and Chase had solid days on the course and picked up some hardware for their top-10 finishes. The course played tough and had some interesting pin placements, so I was proud of how the boys handled it.”
Savannah won the tournament with a team score of 326 and Trenton’s district rival Cameron placed third, just behind the Bulldogs, with a score of 343.
Trenton will compete in the district tournament on Wednesday in Cameron. The Bulldogs will also be involved in a triangular match with Lafayette and Maryville in St. Joseph at the Fairview Golf Course on Thursday, the day after the district tournament.
