Trenton Boys Win Another Meet Title

The Trenton High School boys track and field team picked up its fifth meet title of the season on Friday as the Bulldogs won the Brookfield Relays with 117 team points. The Trenton girls, meanwhile, placed third with 87 team points.

Bulldogs
The Trenton boys picked up six gold medals at the meet. Addison Fuller was a part of two of the gold-medal performances. Fuller won the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:47.28, a mark that broke the school record of 4:50.0 set by John Ray a few years ago. Fuller also teamed with Sam Cool, Charlie Hoffman and James Fairchild to win the 4×800-meter relay with a time of 8:31.98.
Trenton won two other relay events as well as, striking gold in the 4×100- and 4×400-meter relays. In the 4×100-meter relay, Cool, Seth Acton, Keegan McGinness and Colby Larson combined to win with a time of 44.97. In the 4×400-meter relay, Cool, Acton, Larson and Fairchild won with a time of 3:32.5.
Fairchild and Larson each picked up an individual gold medal at the meet as well. Fairchild won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:05.16 and Larson won the long jump with a mark of 20-02.5.
Acton delivered a pair of runner-up finishes for the Bulldogs, taking second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.21 and second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.76. Wyatt Coffman had a second-place finish as well as the runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 45-02. He was also fourth in the discus with a throw of 122-06.
Other placewinners for the Bulldogs included Riley Maberry, third in the discus with a throw of 126-04; Hoffman, third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:08.66; Cool, fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.13; Aric Helmandollar, fifth in the 110-meter hurdles; Dakota Schultz, sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 9-06; Larson, who was seventh in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.66; and McGinness, who was eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.26 and eighth in the long jump with a mark of 17-0.
Lady Bulldogs
The Trenton girls picked up two gold medals at the meet, both coming on the legs of Chandler Wilson. Wilson won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.69 and the triple jump with a mark of 33-03.5. Wilson was also second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.54.
The Lady Bulldogs had three other runner-up finishes and Maddie Hooyman was a part of each one. Hooyman was second in the high jump with a mark of 4-10 and was a part of the 4×200- and 4×400-meter relay teams, both of which placed second. Hooyman combined with Scotlin Hurley, Wilson and Mackenzie Mack to place second in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:21.19 and Scotlin Hurley, McKinley Hurley and Mack to place second in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 1:52.98. Hooyman, Scotlin Hurley, McKinley Hurley and Mack also teamed up to run the 4×100-meter relay and placed third with a time of 53.7.
Scotlin Hurley and Mack also placed individually at the meet. Hurley was third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.09 and Mack was fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.46.
Other placewinners for the Trenton girls included the 4×800-meter relay team of Molly Boyle, Mallory Hooyman, Payton Guile and Megan Sole, which placed fourth with a time of 11:12.5; Sole, fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 30-01; Kaylee Lickteig, fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 7-06; Ashley Osborn, seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.98 and eighth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 53.69; and Alexis Fender, eighth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.27.
Trenton’s track teams will be in action again today, traveling to Lawson for the Nick Sloop Invitational, which begins at 4 o’clock. Trenton will also be at the LeBlond Relays in St. Joseph on Tuesday and the South Harrison Relays in Bethany on Thursday.
