Trenton Holds Its Own With Big Schools

The Trenton High School boys golf team found itself in a tournament full of much larger schools for the second time this season when the Bulldogs traveled south for the Richmond Invitational Golf Tournament on Friday. Trenton held its own with the big schools, finishing in the middle of the pack.

Trenton tallied a team score of 343, placing the Bulldogs 10th in the 21-school field. Liberty won the meet with a team score of 311. Park Hill South shot a 311 as well, but Liberty had a better fifth golfer score, giving them the win. Rockhurst shot a 321 to round out the top three.
Leading the way for Trenton was Blake Schlarb, who scored an 84. Schlarb used a front-nine 41 and a 43 on the back nine to arrive at his total. Chase Tolson was right behind, shooting an 85. Tolson’s nine-hole scores were 42 and 43. Austin Norris shot a front-nine 44 and a 42 on the backside to card an 86 and Joe Christenson rounded out the Bulldogs’ team score with an 88, resulting from nine-hole scores of 47 and 41. Also in action for the Bulldogs was Lane Beverlin, who shot a 91, resulting from a front-nine 43 and a back-nine 48.
Trenton will get back into dual action when it returns to the links on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will host Princeton and Chillicothe in a triangular at the Riverside Country Club. Tee time for the event is set for 4 p.m.
