NCMC Honors Area High School Student

Brookfield R-III High School senior Tawnya Hardy was recently recognized as the High School Career and Technical Education Student of the Year by North Central Missouri College in Trenton.

Miss Hardy was selected on the basis of her commitment to career and technical education, academic achievement, involvement in school and community activities, leadership abilities and her involvement in career and technical education organizations.
The daughter of Pamela and David Hardy of Browning, she was nominated by her instructor, Jessica Dobrzenski of the Linn County Area Career and Technical Center in Brookfield, where she is enrolled in the agriculture program. Miss Hardy plans to attend NCMC and study agricultural business and precision agriculture.
In her nomination, Ms. Dobrzenski noted, “Tawnya excels in career and technical education and … her impressive work ethic and maturity have made her an invaluable member of the FFA organization.”
Miss Hardy is currently serving as the vice president of student development of her Future Farmers of America chapter and is past treasurer of her Skills USA chapter. She has received numerous awards in FFA and 4-H, earned inclusion on the Honor Roll of Distinction in all of her high school years, participated in many community events and is an active member of the Iowa-Missouri Truck & Tractor Pullers Association.
As the High School Career and Technical Education Student of the Year, Miss Hardy was recognized with a certificate of achievement and plaque. She will also receive a $350 scholarship from NCMC.
NCMC partners with many secondary career and technical education schools in the area by ensuring various technical pathways are available to students. Career and technical education schools within NCMC’s service territory were invited to nominate and submit one candidate from any of their CTE programs for consideration as the High School Career and Technical Education Student of the Year.
Students can earn the equivalent of free college credit by participating in an articulated program of career and technical education classes while attending high school or an area technical school or career center. Linn County Area Career and Technical Center in Brookfield provides technical career education in a variety of disciplines and is a key technical education partner with NCMC.
