The Trenton High School boys tennis team had their second rough outing in a row on Tuesday as they were defeated 8-1 on the road in Savannah. The 8-1 loss to the Savages was the second such defeat, coming on the heels of an 8-1 loss to Kirksville last week.

Trenton found itself in trouble early as Austin Busch and Isaiah Swann suffered back-to-back 8-1 losses. Karson Hill lost 8-4 and Sam Muff, who played a strong match, fell 9-7. Tyler Maberry lost 8-6, sealing the dual win for Savannah, and Brandon Whittle wrapped up singles play with an 8-2 loss.
In doubles play, Trenton suffered two more losses as the duo of Busch and Swann lost 8-2 and Hill and Maberry fell 8-6. Trenton got its lone win of the dual from the doubles team of Nathanyl Bankson and Muff, which scored an 8-4 win.
With the dual loss, Trenton fell to 2-2 on the season in dual play.
Junior varsity action saw three matches played with Savannah winning all three. Jacob Hall lost a singles match 6-0 and Jacob Marlay and Wilson Utley suffered a 6-2 doubles loss. Alex Davis and Bonnie Nyakoojo lost a doubles match 7-5.
Trenton’s boys tennis team will return to the court on Thursday as the Bulldogs play host to Chariton, IA at the THS tennis courts. First serves are set for 4 p.m.
