Easter week is being celebrated throughout the area with several special services and events planned by churches and communities.

Spickard will have its annual community Easter pageant on Friday evening, April 6 at the Spickard Christian Church. The program begins at 7 o’clock and will include participants from all churches in Spickard. The public is invited to attend.
Area churches that have announced special Easter week services include:
Church of the Nazarene – Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m.; Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. with breakfast to follow. The Easter worship service will be at 9:30 a.m. and the children’s Easter egg hunt to follow.
First Baptist Church – Easter Sunday early service at 8 a.m., followed by breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Sunday school will be at 9:30 a.m. and regular services will be at 10:40 a.m. There will be no evening services.
First Christian Church – Mandy Thursday Service, communion and cantata at 7 p.m.; Good Friday Prayer Vigil begins at noon on Friday; Easter Sunday sunrise serve at 7:30 a.m., followed by breakfast at 8 a.m. Sunday school will be at 9 a.m. and regular services will be at 10 a.m.
Galt Christian Church – Good Friday service at 7 p.m.; community “sonrise” breakfast at 7 a.m., followed by breakfast at 8 a.m., Sunday school at 10 a.m. and Easter services at 10:50 a.m. A DVD, “We Had Hoped” will be shown during the Easter service.
Hodge Presbyterian Church – Maundy Thursday service and communion at 7 p.m.; Good Friday service at 5:30 p.m.; Easter Sunday sunrise service with Wesley United Methodist Church at the Upper Moberly Park shelterhouse at 6:30 a.m., with breakfast to follow. The children’s Easter egg hunt is at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday and worship services will be at 10:50 a.m.
Immanuel Lutheran Church – Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m.; Good Friday service at 6 p.m.; Easter Sunday service at 7 a.m., followed by breakfast.
Laredo Christian Church – Easter Sunday sunrise service at 6:30 a.m., followed by breakfast and regular church services at 8:30 a.m. There will be no Sunday school.
Rural Dale Baptist Church – Children’s Easter egg hunt (10 and under) at 10 a.m. on Saturday; Easter Sunday sunrise service at 7 a.m., followed by breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Sunday school will be at 9 a.m. and services at 10 a.m.
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church – Mass at 8 p.m. on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday.
St. Philip’s Episcopal Church – Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m.; Good Friday service at noon; Easter Day service at 10:30 a.m.
South Evans Christian Church – Easter Sunday breakfast at 9 a.m., followed by the worship service at 10:45 a.m.
Spickard Christian Church – Easter morning early service at 7:30 a.m.; breakfast at 8 a.m.; Sunday School at 9:30 a.m.; and worship service at 10 a.m.
Spickard Methodist Church – Easter Sunday breakfast at 9 a.m. in the church basement, morning worship at 10:30 a.m.
Tenth Street Baptist Church – Maundy Thursday service and the Lord’s Supper at 9 p.m.; Good Friday services at 7 p.m.; Easter Sunday sunrise service at 7:30 a.m., followed by breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Sunday school will be at 9:30 a.m. and church services will be at 10:30 a.m. There will be no evening services or AWANAs.
Union (Coon Creek) Baptist Church – Good Friday service and communion at 7 p.m. with fingerfood and fellowship to follow; Easter Sunday breakfast at 8 a.m., Sunday school at 10 a.m. and church service at 11 a.m. with the children’s Easter egg hunt to follow. An evening service is planned for 6 o’clock.
Wesley United Methodist Church – Maundy Thursday communion services at 7 p.m.; Good Friday services at 7 p.m.; Easter sunrise service with Hodge Presbyterian Church at the Upper Moberly Park shelterhouse at 6:30 a.m. Breakfast will follow and persons are asked to bring a food dish to share. Regular worship services will be at 10:15 a.m. and a confirmation service will be held. Church offices are closed on Friday, April 6 and Monday, April 9.
