School boards at Laredo and Princeton met in special sessions on Thursday night, hiring administrators for the upcoming school year.

The Laredo R-7 Board offered a contract to a candidate for the administrator’s position. The name of the individual will be announced once the contract has been accepted.
Current administrator Dr. Kirk Mallette has resigned from the district, effective at the end of the current school year.
The Princeton R-5 Board of Education hired a new elementary principalt
John Smith, who is currently superintendent/principal at the St. Bruno School in Pinkneyville, IL, will join the R-5 School District on Aug. 5. Superintendent Terry Mayfield said Smith has also spent two years as an elementary principal in the Rich Hill School District and taught four years in the Nevada, MO, School District. He was one of three candidates for the position and replaces Danny Johnson, who will become principal in the Stanberry School District.
In other business, the board accepted the resignation of Brent Mitchell as high school physical education instructor and girls basketball coach. Approval was given to bid specifications for four capital improvements projects, including repaving the high school driveway/parking area, paving of the elementary driveway/parking ot area, replacement of retaining walls around the track and elementary school yard drainage improvements. Bids for the projects are to be advertised.
