Funeral services for Dale Halferty are scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Newtown Christian Church in Newtown,. Burial will be in the Center Grove Cemetery.

A visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Halferty a 59-year-old former Newtown resident, died at 8:11 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.
Mr. Halferty was born on Jan. 11, 1953 in Chariton, IA to Glenn and Dorothy Finch Halferty. He attended school in Chariton and graduated from high school in Bloomfield IA. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Northwest Missouri State, he received his masters in education from Graceland University. He worked many jobs over his lifetime including being a city cop, railroader, mechanic, truck driver and teacher. Other than being with his family, he enjoyed working on anything with wheels. He especially enjoyed his Harley Davidson and going to the Sturgis Bike Rally.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Nancy of Lamoni, IA; a son, Michael of Lamoni; three daughters, Andrea Kuhn and her husband, Bryan of Columbia, Annie Myers of Quincy, IL and Abby Hamrick and her husband, Scot of New Boston, VA; four step-children, Matt Langhus and his wife, Tanya of Smithville, Judd Tucker and his wife, Jessica of Kansas City, Adam Tucker and his wife, Kiley of Kansas City and Amanda Neff and her husband, Aron of Milan; two brothers, Stan Halferty and his wife, Irene of North Richland Hills, TX and Vern Halferty and his wife, Merry of Waveland, MS; two sisters, Louise Norris and her husband Ed, of Ft. Collins, CO and Teresa Pingree and her husband, Fran of Ankeny, IA; and 14 grandchildren.
Those preceding him in death include his parents and a sister, Wilma Halferty.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Mic Halferty education fund and may be left with or mailed to Payne Funeral Home of Galt.
