Persons falling at 200 percent of Federal Poverty Guidelines or below qualify for this program. A family with one person living in the household with an annual income of $22,340, a two-person household with an income of $30,260 annually, a three-person household with an annual income of $38,180, a family of four with an income of $46,100 or a family of five with an income of $54,020 will qualify for this service.
GHCAA utilizes certified energy auditors to examine the home to determine which weatherization items are needed. Typical things done to the home include attic insulation, foundation insulation, wall insulation, clean and tune of furnaces, caulking and weather-stripping.
Rental properties are eligible, with the landlord paying $300 of the cost of weatherizing the home. The agency has a record of decreasing air infiltration into the home by 30 to 40 percent, which results in significant savings on utility bills. Plans call for weatherizing between 500 to 600 homes during the grant period which ends in December of 2012.
The application process is very simple to complete and persons wanting an application can contact the CAA office in Trenton for more information. Persons with questions about the program are encouraged to call Terri Henderson or Alicia Roy at 660-359-3907 or toll free at 1-855-290-8544 .
