The meeting began with public comment by Administrator Jocelyn Meservey, who commended the seventh and eighth grade on their dinner theater production. She also expressed thanks to Tom Veatch for his work on the sound system in the gym and to the Organization of Parents and Teachers soundproofing committee that made and installed acoustic panels.
The board approved the 2012-2013 school calendar and voted to declare the old basketball goals as surplus property, allowing them to be sold as an item in the OPT silent auction being held on March 30. The goals had been removed from the gym and replaced last year.
Following a presentation of teacher proposals for the 2012-2013 school year by Danielle Pauley and a review of new health insurance options, the board voted to drop the current health insurance provider at the end of the current fiscal year. A resolution to that effect will be drafted and sent to the provider.
Several field trips were approved, including the following: March 28, seventh and eighth grades to Chillicothe Middle School for the Tina Meier assembly, followed by visits to Chillicothe High School, Grand River Technical School and Meadville High School; April 25, kindergarten through fourth grade students traveling to Chillicothe to see Mr. Stinky Feet; May 8, students in grades three through eight to the Missouri Repertoire Theater to see “Little Shop of Horrors.”
The board agreed that May 21 and 22 will be makeup days after school was closed for excessive absences due to illness.
The board held an executive session to discuss personnel, with no announcement made.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 10.
