NCMC Teams Win

Both the North Central Missouri College softball and baseball teams picked up wins over the weekend.
The Lady Pirates scored a 4-3 win over Mott Community College and a 6-4 win over Cuyahoga Community College in Florida on Friday. The Pirates’ baseball team, meanwhile, picked up its first win of the season, defeating the College of Southern Maryland 8-5 in Myrtle Beach, SC.

The Lady Pirates’ sweep on Friday improved their record on the season to 7-6.
“We struggled defensively early in the week, but really started to come together and played well by the end of our time in Florida,” Lady Pirates’ Head Coach Kristen Boyes said. “I feel good about the tough competition we played and ending on a three-game winning streak.”
The Lady Pirates return to the diamond on Thursday, hosting Indian Hills Community College in their home opener at Griffin Field in Trenton. Action in the doubleheader begins at 2 p.m.
The Pirates were able to pick up their first win of the season in their first game in South Carolina on Saturday. Alex Cross was the winning pitcher for the Pirates, who moved to 1-10 on the year with the victory.
The Pirates will look to build off the momentum of their first win as they continue play in Myrtle Beach, SC throughout the week. NCMC began play against Frederick Community College today at 3 p.m.
