The North Central Missouri College baseball team was in action on Friday afternoon, facing Crowder College on the road in Neosho. The Pirates were unable to come away with a win as they fell 15-2 in game one and 4-0 in game two.
Pirates Handed A Pair Of Losses On Friday
In the opening game of the doubleheader, a scoreless tie was broken in the bottom of the second inning when Crowder pushed three runs across the plate. The scoring breakthrough led to three more runs for Crowder in the third inning and three more in the fourth. The Pirates finally got on the board in the fifth inning, scoring two runs, but it wasn’t enough to keep the game going and Crowder took the win in five innings.
Austin Warren was the losing pitcher for the Pirates, falling to 0-2 on the season. North Central didn’t do much in the field to help Warren out, committing five errors in four innings.
Crowder didn’t waste any time in game two, putting up two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Crowder repeated the two run frame in the third inning, going up 4-0, a score that would remain until game’s end.
Alex Cross took the loss for the Pirates, falling to 0-1 on the year. The Pirates cut down their errors, committing just one, but never got the bats going. North Central had just two hits in the game as they were shut out.
With the sweep, NCMC fell to 0-9 on the season.
The Pirates’ games scheduled for Sunday were rained out. NCMC returns to the diamond on Wednesday as they travel to Highland, KS to face Highland Community College in a single nine-inning contest. The first pitch is set for 4 p.m.
