Claude Rains, a 92-year-old resident of La Mesa, CA and former Trenton area resident, died on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Honey Creek Chapel Christian Church, northeast of Trenton, with Rev. Stan Richardson officiating.
Burial of cremains will be in the Honey Creek Cemetery following military graveside services. Arrangements are under the direction of Slater Funeral Home at Trenton.
Mr. Rains was born on April 28, 1919 in Dunlap, the son of Ernest Clifton and Fannie Ethel Rowoth Rains. He attended Dunlap schools. He was retired from the U.S. Navy, serving for almost 22 years during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Rains worked for the Federal Civil Service as an aircraft inspector retiring after 20 years of service.
He was married on Aug. 2, 1946 in Alameda, CA to Celia Brenner, who preceded him in death on April 3, 2000.
His survivors include one son, Richard C. Rains of La Mesa; one sister, Fern Rains of Trenton; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Ruth Beckner and Wilma McAtee; and one brother Marvin Rains.
