Two-year-old Lydia Grace Johnston of Kansas City died on Thursday, March 1, 2012 after a long and courageous battle to overcome a congenital heart defect and esophageal atresia.

Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the D.W. Newcomers and Sons Funeral Home-White Chapel in Kansas City. A balloon release followed the service.
Lydia Grace was born on Nov. 12, 2009, the daughter of Clay and Amanda Johnston. She was the youngest of triplets and spent 24 of her 27 months of her life as a patient at both Children’s Mercy Hospital and Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA. She enjoyed the simplest of life’s pleasures, from balloons and wrapping paper to cuddling up with a good Dr. Seuss book.
She is survived by her parents, Clay and Amanda; a brother, Wyatt; a sister, Ava; her maternal grandparents, Joe and Wenda Seymour; her paternal grandparents, Ed and Pam Johnston; her paternal great-grandmother, Phyllis Anderson; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by six great-grandparents.
