Polar Plunge At Lake Viking

The annual Polar Plunge to raise money for the special Olympics was held at Lake Viking on Saturday, Feb. 11 with several area teams and individuals participating.

A total of $23,710 was raised during the event, with more anticipated to be received during the next 30 days. “Forever for Trevor” of Winston was the top fundraising team with $1,061. Second place went to “Medical Madness” of Trenton, which raised $882. “Peace Loving Plungers” of St. Joseph was third with $826.
Individually, Jim Rash of Galt raised the most money, $6,050. Second went to Catherine Jackson of the Chillicothe Correctional Center, $2,175. Tim Goebel of Crossroads Correctional Center raised $1,930 to finish third.
The Top Law Enforcement fundraisers were Cameron Crossroads, $8,155; Chillicothe Correctional Center, $3,419; and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, $788. Osborn was the top fundraising high school, $387.
Judy and Jim Rash served as coordinators of the event and received the “Golden Plunger Award” for the best costumes as they were dressed as “Little Bo Peep and Wolf in Sheppard’s Clothing.” Second place went to Julie Jacobs, who was dressed as a flapper.
“Peace, Love, Plunge” was the theme of this year’s event.
