The Mercer High School boys basketball team was in action at home Monday night, taking on Mormon Trail High School. The Cardinals were able to come away with the victory, defeating the visitors 61-30.

The Cardinals took control of the game early running out to an early lead they would hold throughout the contest. The Cardinals were on cruise control for the majority of the second half as they rolled to the non-conference win.
Leading the way for the Cardinals was Colton Hartley. The junior caught fire and lit up the scoreboard with 26 points. Garrett Noe added 14 points to the Cardinals’effort and John Girdner finished with six. Mercer also got five points from Grant Widner, four from James Laswell and three points each from Zach Campbell and Chance Berndt. Trey Michaelis was out with an illness.
With the win, the Mercer boys moved to 18-4 on the season.
Both the Mercer boys and girls will be on the court tonight as they travel to Gilman City for an HDC Conference doubleheader. Action tips off at 6 p.m. in Gilman with the girls contest and the boys game will follow.
The Lady Cardinals will be looking for their 23rd win of the season.
