Jack and Donna Thieme are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012. They were married east of Laredo, at the home of Donna’s parents, Bill and Ruby Triplett. Their attendants were friends Dick Roberts and Patricia Westphal. They are the parents of three children, Lori and James Shiflett and Lin and Ashley Thieme of Meadville and Rich and Jeannie Thieme of Chillicothe. They also have nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Jack worked for Irvinbilt Co. for 44 years before retiring in 2004. He spends his time raising registered angus cattle, fishing, visiting friends, gardening and sharing his prize tomatoes. Donna worked at the Baptist Home in Chillicothe for nearly 10 years and enjoyed it so much she retired and went back three times before her final retirement in 2002. Donna opened Country Cottage Bed and Breakfast in 1999. She is in the beginning stages of remodeling a grain bin into housing to accomodate their numerous guests from all over the United States. Jack and Donna have always enjoyed crossing cultural lines and opening their home to numerous foreign exchange students from all over the world. One Rwandian exchange family was the inspiration for Donna’s book, “The Forgotten Ones,” which tells of the family’s escape during the Rwandian uprising. A card shower for the couple has been requested. They can be mailed to 12473 Atom Rd., Humphreys MO 64646.
